My mom was an Elvis fan and she went to Graceland in 1987 for the 10th anniversary of Elvis' death.
So as a boy I became an Elvis fan too. I have been listening to Elvis since the late 1970's. I would listen to him after school. As soon as I got in the house I'd go to the stereo, grab my brothers headphones and listen to 8-track tapes of Elvis.
When Elvis died my mom, my 2 sisters and I were at our cottage. I remember my mom going outside and listening to Elvis on the radio that night and she was sniffing.
In the early 80's she bought Gale Brewer-Giorgio's book "Is Elvis Alive". I read it and I believed it. All of her points made sense. She wrote about the masked singer Orion being Elvis.
That was before the internet and so I never saw any videos of him,, but I remember hearing one of his songs and it sounded like Elvis. But I wasn't 100% convinced it was him.
I kept listening to Elvis throughout my life. In the late 90's I got a bunch of Elvis cds and listened to them on the stereo cd player my sister got me for christmas, one of my best christmas presents ever.
When the internet and youtube came along I kept listening to Elvis. And I also listened to the Elvis channel on Sirius Radio.
I came across the theory that Elvis was still alive as pastor Bob Joyce. I didn't believe that at all. I still don't. It's obvious the pastor is not elvis, although he sounds similar to Elvis in some songs.
So fast forward to this past week and I decided to listen to an Orion song on youtube. I picked "Look Me Up (And Lay It On Me)...
WOW!
That's ELVIS!
In the beginning you can see Jimmy Ellis is lip syncing and the voice is Elvis!
Gale Brewer-Giorgio was probably right about Orion and Elvis Presley!
I can't believe that song and the orion theory didn't get more attention!
