Tim Berners-Lee: A Magna Carta for the web

Vintage 1960's Lane Mid Century Modern Credenza, Dining Room Furniture

I have a friend who is a real estate agent who I have been helping for years.  She was staging a house and wanted help finding vintage furniture and asked me to come with her to the thrift stores and said I could also do some shopping for my vintage Etsy shop.

The first saturday we went out was an adventure.  She had thought we'd be finished in the morning, but, as the plans changed, we worked all day until about 11 pm.

We ended up going back to one thrift store twice and both times I found some really nice things.  Right as I was leaving the 2nd time I saw this beautiful credenza they had just put out.  I snatched it right up for the great price!

We actually had to come back a 3rd time to load it up into the pick-up truck. And bringing it home and getting it into my place was another experience.

Once we eventually got back to my place I had to get the neighbor to help me get it into my front yard.  Where it sat for a couple days, rain-free luckily, until I got pics taken and maneuvered into my home myself.

It is not in perfect condition. It shows some use on the outside.  But it is still in great condition, priced low to sell, and waiting for that perfect buyer.

Vintage Paragon China Tea Cups

Even when I first opened my vintage Etsy shop I knew that women loved vintage tea cups.  I had mostly Limoges tea cups listed then. But I appreciated beautiful vintage tea cups and vintage china.  I thought they were like works of art.

As I had my vintage Etsy shop I became more active in buying them and selling them. Especially after a friendship with another vintage seller on Etsy.

Even as I started selling more of them I was not sure that people would pay good money for a tea cup.  But I remember my first tea cup sale for a good price.  It was a pink and gold English tea cup from the '40's-50's.  From then on I was into them..

And I have come to have an special appreciate for Paragon tea cups.  I think they have some of the most beautiful.  I love their colors and their color combinations.

I have been lucky to acquire some beautiful ones for my vintage Etsy shop:

I have been very lucky to sell some beautiful ones, too:

My vintage Etsy shop has been growing every year.  And I can contribute some of that growth to my sales of beautiful bone china tea cups.  Of which Paragon has been an important part.

I am looking forward to the coming months and the tea cups I can acquire and provide for others who love and appreciate them.

The Most Overused Word in the English Language

PASSION.

It hurts me to even type that.

"I'm passionate", "Your passion".  "My passion". "Your passionate". Blah Blah Blah.

I won't use that word.

It used to be called "Doing what you love".

Chem Trails Over Pittsburgh, PA Yesterday Morning

I walked out of my house about 7am to take out the garbage and right up the alley in front of my house in the sky I could see the trails crossing and dispersing:

I walked to my gate and looked to the right and could see them crossing the sky:

Sad.

It was a Beautiful, Sunny September Day in the Mexican War Streets in Western PA

I  went out onto my porch this morning and loved it!  It was a clear, blue sky, low humdity and cool comfortable temps.  I kept going out onto my porch and into my front yard just to take it in and enjoy it.

About 1pm I took a few pics from my front porch directly in front of my home:

It has been a fairly productive day.

I got some pics taken in the morning, in the perfect sunny lighting in the back of my house where I take my pics.  Most of which I think turned out pretty good:

I went to the laundromat and got 2 loads of laundry done, but I accidentaly put 2 tank tops in with white clothes and washed them in hot water. Now they are probably too small to wear.

After I put the laundry in I walked down to the thrift store and think I did great!  I got a large Marwal statue, a P. Buckley Moss print, a Wheelilng Pottery bowl from the 1800's, some egg shell porcelain tea cups, a t shirt for myself and a couple other things.

I also saw Angelo.  He came in as  I was browsing the shelves.  Lucky for me.  He might have picked up a few of those things.  He has good taste and some knowledge and appreciation for vintage & antique things.

I got one package shipped.

Now it is time for some yard work?  Then some Bear Grills?  Maybe some Antiques Roadshow?  That show is boring for me.   I guess I am not in my true calling. Or I'd have more interest in it. Plus, so many of the pieces are one-of-a-kind.  Things I'll never see or have or get a chance at.

Oh well.

I will see what else I can get done this evening and tonight.  Maybe some organizing.

A 444

Before I went to bed I posted on my Etsy Shop Views blog about not selling much.

I woke up to a sale.

And then here later I checked my gmail account and saw that the sale was at 4:44.

Still tithe only. And do everything myself.

A 4:44

I had just woken up and was laying there for a minute or so when I decided to check the time on my watch.

I touched the light on it and the time was 4:44.

Agenda 21 Being Implemented in Pittsburgh, PA???

I don't recall how I first became aware of Agenda 21.  But now that I know what I know about it, I am on the lookout.  I can see it being enacted by State and Federal depts locally and nationally.

http://www.post-gazette.com/local/city/2014/08/22/Green-infrastructure-comes-to-Schenley-Park/stories/201408220034

I have a friend who doubted the influence of the UN on America.  When I just sent him Google results of Agenda 21 he didn't write back.  He still does not write back when I bring it up to him.

There was also a storm runoff system built just outside of Pittsburgh in Etna.

I believe that not very many people in Western PA even know about Agenda 21.  So they can't spot it being implemented.

Time to wake more people up.  Especially in Western PA.

Sunrise in the Mexican War Streets of Pittsburgh, PA.

I was up early today and stepped out on to my front porch and saw the beautiful sky directly in front of me.

It is a decent start to the day.  I have made 5 sales to two customers, I got some pics taken, had some fresh grapes, and got an opportunity for some work this week.

Off to the laundromat and then to pack orders.

Antique Victorian 1800's Middletown Plate Co quadruple plate teapot, silver plate teapot

One day an interior designer friend of mine, for whom I also do work, asked for my help and also wanted me to meet a consignment shop owner friend of hers just in case the shop owner and I could make a business relationship involving tea cups.

Well, after helping the interior designer and meeting the shop owner on the ride back to my home the interior designer insisted that we stop at the Goodwill along the way.  I am glad we did.

I found a Wormely dining chair, a beautiful Haeger vase, and several other items including this great antique silver plate teapot:

I was thinking that it was Victorian and when I got home and did some research I found out that I was correct.

It was the next morning that I took some pics and got it listed"

It is smaller than average teapots, but still beautiful.  And it's in great condition.

A 444 Today

I was outside organizing things and preparing for a girl to possibly come and look at my chairs when I decided to come up and turn the computer back on.

When I did the time on the clock was 4:44.

A Day of Red White & Blue thrift store shopping and moving furniture!

My friend picked me up this morning to go pick up furniture and take up north of Pittsburgh in Gibsonia.

We ended up spending time shopping in 2 of the Red, White & Blue thrift stores, where we were also picking up the furniture to move, and to the first store we shopped twice and I came away with MANY NEW ITEMS.

The prices were pretty good, better than I was expecting, and there were aslo more nice items available on this busy saturday than I was expecting.I think I did very well.

I found a green coin glass candy dish with lid, a few nice books, a 1960's F.A.I.P. table lamp, a Stiffel lamp, a very nice fairy pottery lamp, small toby mugs from Japan, 2 beautiful hand painted moriage plates from Japan, a 1920's green M Noritake Nippon casserole dish in perfect condition, a green & white swirl glass vase with handles, a Fenton blue satin bicentennial plate with George Washington, a very nice Lenox Holy Family plate, a cool, retro Lane Ceramics yellow & white mod pitcher, a Stangl gold Granada vase, a very nice Stroud native american indian women print from 1986,  and some other things.

I was in one aisle looking when a lady in the aisle next to me suddenly asked, "You resell, right?".  I told her I did.  And she handed me a cow creamer from Japan.  And a pheasants glass bowl she said was from after the war, from the 1940's, and pointed to other pieces of colored glass candy dishes with lids and said, "they aren't making those colors any more.  I'm sorry. I'm a collector".  She was cool. I liked her.

Man, I did miss out on a great 1960's danish arm chair in the 2nd Red White & Blue store!  I looked it over twice and passed on it. I should have taken it!  But I was low on cash and had spent alot of money already by that time.

On the 2nd trip to the first Red White & Blue thrift store I saw a few nice chairs I would have liked to have bought, but I didn't have room and was running low on funds.

I finally got home after finishing the run to Gibsonia near 10:30pm.

It was a pretty productive day.

No sales in my Etsy shop though.  That bugs me.

Time to organize my new items for pic taking tomorrow and monday.

Vintage 1980's Sasson faux fur coat size 15, Pittsburgh

I found this gorgeous vintage faux fur coat on one of my many trips to my local thrift store. This is a piece my sisters would have worn back in the 1980's.

A vintage fur is a must-have fashion item for every fall and winter wardrobe.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/165587357/vintage-1980s-sasson-womens-faux-fur?ref=shop_home_active_3

It is still in great condition.  The faux fur is excellent.  No damage.  The interior is excellent also.  It does need to be laundered:

I got lucky so many times at this local thrift store.  It makes me just want to keep going in there even when I am in the neighborhood for something else.  Maybe I will get lucky again some time??

Vintage Tea Cups in My Etsy Shop

I started emphasizing tea cups in my vintage Etsy shop probably just over 3 years ago.  I had been chatting with a friend I made on Etsy and she told me she collected Aynsley tea cups.  Although I knew that women loved vintage tea cups I just thought it would be too hard to try to buy and sell them.  But as I started to search for vintage tea cups and find very nice ones I thought collectors and those that appreciate tea cups would love, I got more into them.  As they sold, I would buy more.

It has been very fun buying and selling vintage tea cups in my Etsy shop for the past 3 years now.  I really even like taking the pics.  That's fun for some reason. And I believe taking good pics is very important in selling tea cups.

Here are some tea cups I currently have listed in my vintage Etsy shop:

I have had a lot of fun and met very many nice people and been lucky to sell hundreds of tea cups these past few years.  Here are some of the beautiful vintage tea cups I have been fortunate to sell:

I sell so many tea cups that it is a lot of work replacing them. But I guess that is a good problem to have. Right?

I have had a lot fun and am looking forward to trying to acquire and list tea cups that are even more beautiful to provide them for people to enjoy.
