FDR was Warned about Pearl Harbor

Back in 2006 I had a labor for hire ad on Craigslist, and I met a lady who hired me for work.  A very good lady.  One of the best people I have ever known.  She accepted me into her family from the beginning, and was very generous.

The next summer when we cleaned out her previous home she was selling she gave me about 70 boxes of items she had bought at auction for her brick & mortar antique store.

One of the items was a scrapbook of 1945 newspaper clippings of the war in the Pacific.

One of the clippings was about a Congressman, I forget from which state, who was being hailed as a hero for not revealing to the public that he knew that FDR was warned about the coming attack on Pearl Harbor, and he kept it secret so that the Japanese would not know that we had broken their codes.

I had tried to sell it on Craigslist with no luck.  When I showed it to my neighbor he loved it, but made a comment that it was probably not worth much.

So with a friend I made a the local Goodwill, the manager, who was a Vietnam vet, I gave it to him one day to thank him for what he had done for me.

I wish I had kept it.  Or saved that article.  Or photo copied it.

Maybe I will ask him for the article or a copy of it.

So there is the book about 9/11 titled "The New Pearl Harbor", because the author believes the government was warned about a possible attack and let it happen.

Well, the US needs prayer.  That's for sure.

Only God can change things, and save us.

God Bless America.

I have listed some Vintage Teacups on Ebay

I have listed a small number of the vintage teacups I had listed in my Vitnage Etsy shop:

http://www.ebay.com/usr/shoponsherman

The listings have had from 1-11 views over the past 5 days.

But today, my vintage 1930's Paragon flower handle teacup must be on the front page, or someone posted it on a social media page because since about 11am it has gotten, check this out....

.....382 VIEWS!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/172430288585?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

This is a bizarre and crazy number of views for an Ebay item.

And obviously those views have not helped it to sell.

But at least I know my item is getting seen.

I will probably list more vintage teacups and other vintage items on Ebay.

Stay tuned!

My Psycho Copycat on Etsy

I had started on Etsy in January of 2011 and got into teacups about the late Summer or early Fall of that year.

I came to have an emphasis on vintage teacups in my Etsy shop, ShoponSherman.

In the past year or two I started seeing shops copying me.  They'd copy my keywords, and titles.  And they started copying my slanted pic style.

Then the beginning of this year I noticed a shop also trying to copy my pic style of close-ups, and I could see she copied my titles and keywords.

It is this shop, vintageteacupshop:

You can see it in this listing:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/291711397/indian-dancer-tea-cup-and-saucer-vintage?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=vintageteacupshop&ref=sr_gallery_1

And in her entire shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/VintageTeacupShop?ref=listing-shop2-all-items-count#items

You can see she went to a blue background like mine.  And that really bugged me.

And I told her about it.

I told her that her entire shop was copied.

That even her shop name was copied.  She copied a part of her description from another shop too.

I should have let it go.  I should have let her go.

But I didn't.

And it cost me my shop.  It cost me all the nearly 6 years of every day work.  And all the success.

It is very bizarre how she copied so much of her shop.  She copied a lot of me and my pic taking style.  Her name.  Her description.

She has mental problems.

Hope she gets help.

ShoponSherman is CLOSED.

I was in a dispute with another seller for copying me.

Etsy closed my account permanently.

Sad.  Disappointing.

Time to do something else.

Thank you, Angels, for the Inspiration

As part of an order I just sold a brooch in my vintage Etsy shop.  I have about 6 boxes of vintage jewelry and I didn't know which box it was.  I did know that a few of my boxes of jewelry were in a back room.  I was planning on go back and digging them out and going through them.

Then I thought that the brooch was in the box of jewelry right next to me here at the computer.

I opened it up and looked through it....and there it was.

Thank you, Angels, for the inspiration and for helping me find the brooch.

Of course, I have known for a long time that I should be thanking God.  And saying thanks to  my angels.

But I have not.  Not nearly as much as I should have over the years.

But they help me, and I can feel it every day.  In the little thoughts and feelings and impulses of inspiration. And in other ways.

Thank you again, Angels.

Almost time for bed.

Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the Tree

God?

I have the tv on with a rerun of Spin City on Laff.  I was upstairs on the computer when I decided to go down and get one of my items to pack.  I stepped into the front room and sat down in front of the tv to watch a little bit of the episode.   Just after I sat down the Mayor of New York talk to Paul at the water cooler he had put into the office to start conversations.  The Mayor said that maybe people aren't using the water cooler for conversation because they didn't have anything to discuss.   And what if they had something to discuss?  Then he pulls out his handmade sign with "God?" on it.

Back to work for me.

UPDATE:

Wow.  Just after I clicked "Post" on the above post I got a sale in my vintage Etsy shop and checked on it.

It was the Sezzatinni tray with the fingers of God touchign Adam's finger from Michaelangelo's Sistine chapel.

Now, back to work.

309 Etsy Search Views Yesterday! Woo Hoo!

The Christmas shopping season has begun.

Yesterday was the first day I had 300 views from Etsy search since February or the beginning of March.  Mostly because of Etsy's 2nd declumping change in March.

Etsy had "declumped" page 1 by only letting 1 shop on the front page.  But shops were having more than 1 item on page 2, 3, onward.

So this March they declumped further back.  And that hurt my vintage shop.

I believe it was in 2013 into 2014 where I had one long period where I was averaging in the 300's with days in the 400's of views from Etsy search.

Even through last late summer through the beginning of this year I was regularly in the 300's.

I even had some freaky highs because my vintage shop was trending.

No longer.

This summer I was below 200 views from Etsy search most days.  I had a day of 270 in August and thought that was the beginning of higher search views, but I was wrong.

So yesterday was a Sunday, and after Thanksgiving.  So this is just the Christmas shopping bump.  I believe it will last 2-3 weeks.

In years past it would last through March.

Oh well.

I will enjoy these next 3-4 weeks and see what happens.

Time to get to work packing orders.

200 Search Views after 6 PM

So it is good to see the high views from Etsy search.  Although it is a Sunday.  And a Sunday after Thanksgiving.

I might finish with about 270 views from Etsy search.

I did have that many back in August and thought my search views had finally come up, but they went back down into the low 200's and even mid-200's.

I have not reached 300 views from Etsy search since the very beginning of the year before Etsy did their 2nd "de-clumping" in March.  I used to regularly be in the 300's with some days in the 400's this time of year.  Those days are gone for good.

Back to work..

Carson at HUD spells trouble for Obama's diversity rule

Carson at HUD spells trouble for Obama's diversity rule: Ben Carson's appointment to head the Department of Housing and Urban Development likely would mean trouble for President Obama's new housing diversity rule and would put a noted skeptic of many government anti-poverty programs in control of many of them. The famed neurosurgeon and former presidential candidate will spend Thanksgiving thinking about the possibility of serving as President-elect Trump's HUD secretary, a spokesman said Wednesday. If he takes over the agency, many housing advocates will be left to wonder what his agenda is, given that he has no record on housing-related issues. Diane Yentel, president of the National Low Income Housing Coalition, said the choice of Carson would be surprising, given his apparent lack of experience with or knowledge of the programs he would oversee.

2 of My Favorite Christmas Commercials

These 2 Christmas commercials still make me laugh out loud every time I see them.  I think they are brillaint,  And well done visually too.

The first is the M & M commercial.  "He does exist!".  "They do exist". *faint* LOL.

One part I think is well done is showing the M & Ms in the gold Christmas ornament.  And also the close-ups.

And the 2nd Christmas commercial had me laughing out loud the very first time I saw it.

It is the Planters Peanut Christmas party commercial:

It has great visuals too.  The showing of only the root beer.  To showing the band-aid on Mr Peanuts head. lol.   And when the nutcracker opens his mouth when Mr Peanut turns around I lost my breath the first time I saw that!  LOL.  Great!  lol.

Two brilliant and very funny commercials.

I wish I could think like those creators think.  To say so much. So cleverly.  In a short segment.  And to present them so visually well.  Well done.

Looking forward to the new commercials for Christmas 2016.

On Thanksgiving, Remember Abraham Lincoln, One of Our WORST Presidents in History

Thanksgiving was created as a national holiday in 1863 when Abraham Lincoln declared a day of thanksgiving and praise to God, our Father in heaven.

And, of course we have all been told about honest Abe and how he freed the slaves.

But the truth is much different.

It was I discovered Thomas DiLorenzo's book, The Real Lincoln and Lincoln Unmasked, that I learned the truth about Abe, and how he was one of our worst presidents.

Not only did he commit many UnConstitutional acts, he was terrible for States rights and the press AND..
he actually did not like blacks and was PRO slavery and was willing to add it to the Constitution:

  .

Thomas DiLorenzo talks are very interesting and enlightening.  He is a Libertarian.

From him I learned that the Civil War was over tariffs and State's rights.

There are many reasons why Lincoln was deified. Mostly political, I am sure.

But, the one thing we need to do is to pray to learn the truth.  About all things.

Happy Thanksgiving..

Only 19 Search Views at 5:30 AM

Within the past week I had a day of search views in the 260's, and I thought they had finally come up for the fall and the shopping season.

I guess I was wrong.

Here on a saturday morning, usually one of my highest search view days of the week, I have only 19 views from Etsy search.

Even when they have been low all summer I'd still be in the 30's or 40's by now.

I will probably end the day with fewer than 200 views from Etsy search.
2 days ago I finished with only 166.  When on the same day last year I had 255.
Disappointing.

It has been a very good 11 days of November.   So I can't complain too much. And I'm doing slightly better than last year for the past 30 days.

And search views are only about 160 fewer than last year for the first 11 days of the month.  Which is not nearly as bad as I was thinking.

But they are not nearly as good as I thought they'd be.  I could be doing even better this month and this Fall if I had the search views I had last year.

Back to bed.

11:11, 4:44, 5:12

I worked at my garden job yesterday.  It was a day of clean-up.  I cut down the hydrangeas, blew leaves, put away the water features, put away some small pieces of furniture, and a few other tasks..

I was carrying the shop-vac to the concrete birdbath when I thought to check the time.  It was 11:11

After work I walked down to the Goodwill.  I did pretty good.  I was glad I went.  I got a nice old looking pencil signed print and a pair of very cool clear glass candlestick holders, and some other things.

After leaving, when I got up to the bus stop I thought to check the time.  I looked at my watch and it was 4:44.

I got home and checked my email.  I had an email from the owner of the garden.  He thanked me for my hard work for the day.  He had sent it at 5:12.

Back to bed.

283 Search Views Yesterday, Sat Nov 5th: HIghest Since Beginning of the Year

So in my vintage shop since Etsy changed search again in March to deal with clumping after page 3 my search views went down and stayed down all year.

In August I reached 274 and thought my views were going to come up again for the Fall.  But they dropped down to below 200 again.

Until yesterday.

I finished with 283 views from Etsy search.  The highest since the Spring.  And probably since February or March.

I have not reached 300 views from Etsy search, a number I reached regularly prior to the "declumping" since the beginning of the year.  Probably the end of Feb or beginning of March.

And now here at 3:50AM I already have 45 views from Etsy search.  300 search views today????  Or soon???

Back to bed.

My Vintage Bavaria Fragonard Love Story Teapot

One of the more popular themes for teacups and china is the Fragonard image.

Vintage china with images from this famous French painter listed for sale online are very commonly called "Victorian couple" images, but he lived from 1732 to 1836.  And the Victorian image is from the reign of Queen Victoria which was from 1837 to 1901.

I acquired this beautiful piece in the love story theme from a lady who had it in her family since her mother bought it in 1960:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/274395176/vintage-love-story-teapot-bavaria-teapot?ref=shop_home_active_25

It was only used for display, and it shows.

All of the gold is in exceptional condition.  The transfer images are still in beautiful condition.  There are no chips.  No cracks.  No crazing.  And the inside is clean & white.

It is a very popular teapot in my vintage Etsy shop.  I am always on the lookout for more Fragonard and Love Story theme items.

My Vintage 1960's Adrian Pearsall Style Chairs on Etsy

In my thrift store shopping for my vintage Etsy shop I have had a lot of luck at the local Goodwills.  I have been able to great deals on Mid Century Modern furniture, lighting, pottery and kitchen items. And in particular I have had success in finding great deals on Mid Century chairs.

2 such deals are my vintage high back Adrian Pearsall style chairs.

Adrian Pearsall designed furniture during the 1950's and 1960's.  After studying architectural engineering at the University of Illinois he then opened his furniture store, Craft Associates, in Pennsylvania in 1952.

My vintage mid century chairs are not by Craft Associates, but do have the signature Pearsall style high backs.

I actually was able to acquire 2 blue velvet high back chairs, and they are both still in beautiful condition:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/286403671/vintage-1960s-blue-velvet-chair-mid?ref=shop_home_active_17

And on another adventure to a local Goodwill I was lucky enough to acquire a great 1960's orange velvet high back chair by Fairfield Furniture Co of North Carolina:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/198606543/vintage-1960s-adrian-pearsall-style-mid?ref=shop_home_active_27

One of my favorite furniture sites is 1stDibs.  An interior designer friend of mine turned me on to the site.
They have beautiful furniture by any designer you can think of.  And they have some great Adrian Pearsall chairs.  Including this pair:

And they have this beautiful blue vintage Adrian Pearsall chair:

https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/seating/lounge-chairs/adrian-pearsall-lounge-chair/id-f_5390513/

And they have this cool Adrian Pearsall swivel chair:

One lady who was interested in my orange velvet chair had asked me about the bottom             and whether it had a solid bottom.  She wanted to add a swivel bottom to it.  It does not.  So she passed.

Well, we can see my prices are BARGAINS compared to 1stDibs asking prices for the real deals.  But a lot of those dealers on that site are in Miami,  New York City and Los Angeles.  So that is expected.

I have had a lot of fun searching for vintage furniture and loved finding the Mid Century bargains for my vintage Etsy shop.

The adventures continue.

100 Etsy Search Views Right after 1:30PM

So I just checked my stats as I am packing an order and I see i have already reached 100 views from Etsy search at 1:34 PM.  That is the earliest in WEEKS.

AND it is a Wed.  The middle of the week.  My highest view days have been Sat-Mon for a while now.

I could see early in the morning that search views were high today.

So this is encouraging.

And I also had 64 direct Google views on Sunday.  The highest also in Weeks.

Back to work.

184 Search Views in My Vintage Etsy Shop Yesterday

I just finished the Saturday, Oct 22nd, with 184 views from Etsy search.

I checked and last year on the same date I had 368 views from Etsy search!

Wow.  How discouraging.

But then on Oct 23, 2015 I had only 200 views from Etsy search.

Almost time for bed.

Only 143 Search Views Yesterday

There were at least 2 disruptions in Etsy service yesterday because of the cyber attacks.  So views were affected I am sure.

Still, for the Friday, Oct 21, 2016:  143 views from Etsy search
                                           2015:  334
                                           2014:  394

Wow.  How sad.  How disappointing.

Back to work packing orders.  Then take the rest of the weekend off.

Comparing the Past 11 Days

So after my big teacup sale on the 10th, the month has not been good at all.
Not only for orders and revenue, but for views from Etsy search and direct Google views.

Here is another comparison for Oct 11th-21st for this year and last year:

Orders:                            Down 65%
Revenue:                         Down 58%
Etsy Search views:           Down 22%
Direct Google views:       Down 41%
Google Shopping views:  Down 35%
Pinterest views:               Up 13%

The first 10 days of the month were decent.  Especially with the big teacup order.
Thought things had improved for the rest of the year.
I was wrong.

Oh well.

I have decisions to make.

Zero "Tea Cup" Views this AM

So with the recent drop in views from Etsy search I see, again, that my views for my top key words "tea cup" are down a lot.

I checked here right before 10 AM and I have ZERO views for those keywords.

I have to go to page FOUR of my keywords, out of 5 pages, to see my FIRST teacup keyword and it is ONE view for "teacup".  And further down I see one for "tea leaf reading tea cup" and further down on page 4 to "rose tea cup".

Wow.

I am not getting views for "tea cup" for some reason????

And that is with nearly SEVEN HUNDRED tea cups listed in my shop.

Yesterday my top keywords were "antique tea cups" with 15 views.
And 2nd was "tea cup" with ONLY 4.

Oh well.

I must have Missed the Leak

I don't think it is leaking as bad.  I might have been close.

But it's leaking.

I have to go back up.

If I fall off, I fall off.
That's life.

Back to bed.

Only 162 Search Views Yesterday

So disappointing.  And discouraging.

I finished the Thurs with only 162 views from Etsy search and only 871 total views.

On Christmas eve I had 144 views from Etsy search.
And on Christmas day I had 214.

Time to close up???

Get orders packed & shipped and close??

At least stop renewing expired listings.  And stop listing anything new.

I had 1 good day this month when I made 54% of my revenue.
It's been 8 of 20 days with gross revenue of more than $100.

12 of 20 days with gross revenue of $0-84.
7 of the 12 with revenue of $9-84.
5 of the 12 with zero revenue.

After nearly 11 years of selling.
So it's time to close.

Oh well..

Back to bed.

I Have to Go Back Up onto My Roof

It has been raining this evening and my roof is still leaking.  Not as bad though.  I was close.

Not even sure where the leak is.

It will be scary, but I have to do it.  Probably Monday when it warms up.  And the roof will have been dry for a few days and had sun shining on it.

I will see if I can put up the ladder on the side of the house at the back where the roof is flat and the roof line is level.  Not sure if there is enough room in the walkway.  The ladder might be too steep there.

Oh well.

Only 171 Search Views Yesterday

I finished the Wed with less than 200 views from Etsy search AGAIN.

This is the new normal. A big drop in search views.

Because of the increased competition and Etsy's "declumping".

By this time of year I'd easily be in the 200's and 300's.  Not any more.

Last year I had 246 views from Etsy search on Oct 19th.

And for the first 19 days of this month I have nearly 800 FEWER views from Etsy search than last year.
With hundreds fewer direct Google views also.

No wonder orders and revenue are down.

For 8 of the last 9 days I am averaging about $31/day in revenue.
And 4 of those 9 days being ZERO revenue.
Holy heck.

The one big teacup sale about 2 weeks ago saved my shop.  Made this month worthwhile.  Made staying open worthwhile.

Oh well.

"I am here"

I just got off my roof a few minutes ago.

I've had a leak for a while.  I hired a roofer, and then my neighbor 4 times and it was still leaking.

I had to go do it myself.

I had never been on any roof before.

I bought shingles and a couple cans of tar.

I have my friends 30 foot ladder.

The weather is nice and warm and I had to get it done today before the change in the weather over the next couple days.  Starting tonight.

I got the shingles this morning.  I wheeled a pack home on my dolly this morning.

I set up the ladder on the front of my house earlier and got my supplies ready.  And put on the correct shoes.

I took all my supplies up and set them on the edge of the roof without leaving the ladder. I made 4 or 5 trips.

I wrote to my angels and asked for their help and protection.

I kept procrastinating.

Then, I had to go up.

I stepped back in my house inside the front door and asked God to protect me and help me and gave thanks for some things.  Like this house.  The weather, my health, the supplies, the ladder, my freedom and other things.

I went back out and I put my hammer and things in my cargo shorts pockets.

I walked up the ladder and took the step onto the roof.  It was steep and concerning.

I walked up to the leak area and did not see any holes.  BUT, I did see a white vent pipe.
I looked around it and there was no flashing!  And the shingles that were there creating a lip/edge.

It was scary up there.  The roof is steep and I felt I could slide off.

I covered the edge of the vent pipe with tar.  And an edge of shingles from the neighbors new roof job.

I was scared.

I was scared as I worked.  I felt I could slide off. And I didn't want to move much.  As little as I had to.

There was areas of exposed tar paper I should have put some shingles over, but I did not want to. I did not want to move around much.

At one point I touched the toe of my boot in some tar.  Oh no.  That made it slick.
I walked up and stood against the chimney and cleaned it off and kept rubbing it on the shingles until I felt it had traction.

Spots of my side gutter need patched too.  I bought some spray sealant for it.  But there was no way I was going near the edge.

I tarred and got what I think is it and then headed for the ladder.

It was scary as I moved to the edge.

I said out loud, "God help me."

In my heard I heard subtly, "I am here".

I felt confident as I made my move to the ladder.  It was strong and stable.  I got on easily and started throwing the supplies I had placed on the edge down into the yard.

I should have put shingles on the exposed tar paper.  And even covered it with some tar.But I was too scared.  I didn't want to walk around up there.

I hope I got it.

That was a clear issue the roofer or my neighbor should have seen!!
My neighbor even told me that he had been a roofer for 15 years!  LIAR!

I made it.  I am here at the computer.  And I hope I got it.

Thank you again, God.

No Improvement in Sight

So my vintage Etsy shop is not improving.  The downward direction is continuing.

I check my stats regularly and compare them to last year and the previous year and there is only less revenue and orders for all the different time periods.

And what is playing a part in feeling this way about my shop is that views from Etsy search and direct Google views are also down considerably.

Etsy search views are down about 1/3 each day.
Even with probably 400+ listings this year than last year.

And direct Google views are down about 1/3-1/2.

The drop in both is partly the fault of Etsy I believe.

I will have a good day here and there.  It's been 1-3 good days/month.

With all the time spent each and every day, with inventor and listings increasing, I am not seeing the benefit in revenue or sales.  Only the downward path.

Right before 6pm today I have spent about 9 hours on my shop.
For 2 orders and $72 in gross revenue.

I have decisions to make.

US Leaders Blackmailed? Obama Classmate Tells All!

Only 38 Views from Etsy Search at 12 Noon

This is about a 50% + drop from where they have been recently.

A continuation of the drop in search views for the year too.

Last year on this day I finished with 196.
I will probably be in the 140's or lower.
Like yesterday.

I guess they are gone.
Because of the "improvements" and increased competition.

Back to work.

Only 149 Etsy Search Views Yesterday

Wow. That is bad. And with nearly 1,500 listings.

Last year on the same day I have 245 views from Etsy search.

Even this morning right before 9:30 AM I have only 28 views from Etsy search!
Recently I'd have in the 60's.
And in the past I would have in the 80's or more.

And in the past 2 months I have more than 3,300 FEWER views from Etsy search.  WOW.
And I also have nearly 700 fewer direct Google views.
Which I blame on Etsy.
They did that with the new layout changes and the coding to our shop titles and descriptions!

What has Etsy done to my shop????

And maybe my shop is too big for Etsy???

Maybe I should open a 2nd and 3rd shop??

That is what the resellers do to game the system.
Since Etsy allows only 1 item per shop per page up to about page 6 now, the resellers are opening multiple shops to have more than 1 of the same item on a page.

When I had only about 800 listings or so I had a long period of time, 5-6 months, in which I averaged Etsy search views in the 300's.  With some days in the 400's.  With Etsy's "improvements" my search views started dropping.

And I don't expect my search views to get BETTER next year.
Only get worse.
As there are more listings and more "improvements" to the site.

The future on Etsy is not looking good.
Good for Etsy.
Not good for me.

I think I'd still make regular sales.
Just not as good as 2014 and 2015.

Search views are where the buyers are.
So if my search views are more than 1,200 fewer/month and get lower, then sales will be lower accordingly.

My best years on here are in the past???

Today: HUGE Difference in Etsy Search Views

So I am about to finish Monday, Sept 26th with only 163 views from Etsy search.

Last year on Sept 26th I had 453 views from Etsy search!

Holy heck.

tick toc......

September 25th Etsy Search Views

So I finished yesterday, a Sunday with only 223 views from Etsy search.  With Sundays having been my day of highest search views for years.

I just checked my stats for last year on Sept 25th and was so surprised at what I saw.  I know search views have dropped a lot and have been lower than last year for several months.  And I was hoping they'd come back in Sept.  But I am wrong.

I finished Sept 25th of last year with 355 views from Etsy search!  Wow.  How disappointing.

Search views are where the buyers are.

I also know that direct Google views are down significantly.

I believe Etsy is to blame for my drop in search views and direct Google views.

I've lost thousands in just the past 2 months alone.

I had a good shop going on Etsy.  Until Etsy ruined it.  And Google played a part too.

Should I stay open?

No. I shouldn't.

I have decisions to make.

Saturday, September 17, 2016

So I Finished Yesterday with 225 Views from Etsy Search

I had a big jump of nearly 100 views from Etsy search yesterday.

From only 138 the day before to 225.

BUT....

With the 138 search views I had 1,048 total views.
And with the 225 search views I had only 1,110 total views.

So was it a bug or something else with Etsy that caused the 138 search views??
And search views weren't counted/calculated correctly???

I don't know???

Time for bed.

Aug 8-Sept 16

I had a big teacup order on August 7th.  And I know the rest of the month was bad.

This month is not much better.

So I checked my stats and compared Aug 8-Sept 16 to last year.

Wow.

                                    2015         2016
Orders                          64             40
Revenue                       Down 52%
Search Views               10,593      8,298
Direct Google Views    2,264        1,852

Not good.  Not good at all.

I have decisions to make.

I keep saying that.  But I need to make the decision to close.

Time to give it all up.

142 Etsy Search Views at 6pm

So today I have a big jump/recovery in my views from Etsy search.

From only 138 all of yesterday to being about 6 hours ahead today, and already 142 of them here at 5:59pm..

Not sure what happened.

Back to work.

Only 138 Search Views Yesterday!

I wonder what the heck happened with my vintage Etsy shop??

I finished the Thursday, Sept 15th with only 138 views from Etsy search.

Last year on Sept 15th I had 281 search views!

Even on Christmas day I had 214!
On the 4th of July I had 204!
On Memorial Day I had 224!

It bugs me for sure.

AND I just broke one of my very cool tall polka dot glass tumblers!

Oh well.

I have decisions to make.....

Time for bed.

Almost Time to Close-Up

It has been 3 of the past 6 days without a sale.

It might be time to just take the loss and close up.
Even though I have been spending a lot of money lately.
I am too stubborn.
Too obstinate.

Only 1 fewer order for the first 14 days of Sept compared to last year, BUT about 55% less revenue.
Not good.

Last Sept 1-14 I also had 3 days without a sale.

After nearly 11 years of every single day effort, it is not worth it.
My net revenue is low.

It is time to do something else.

Get a job.

Go somewhere and start over.

I have choices to make.....

Signature in the Cell: Stephen Meyer Faces his Critics, pt. 1: The Prese...

Donald Trump was Golfing in My Yard

I just took a nap and I had a dream that Donald Trump, and.....Donald Trump....lol were golfing in my yard. lol.

I think there were 2 of them.  I even shook their hands and tried to remember the others last name. lol. "I know their names are alike and the other guy's name sounds like Trump.",

And I thanked the one Mr Trump for shaking my hand even though I know he does not like to shake hands.

And there were people selling the extra things I had in my yard.

And the next door neighbor had put up a sign in my front yard to advertise somethign for them.  Like a sale or something.

Weird dream.  No meaning.

Just sayin'. lol.

Monday, September 12, 2016

In 4 Hours..............

At 5:37 pm it will be 3 out of the past 4 days without a sale.

On Thursday at that time I made a sale of a postcard.
No sale Friday.
3 sales Saturday.
No sales sunday.
No sales so far monday.

Even yesterday, the Sunday, it was more than 1,500 total views with no sales.
And that is with nearly 1,500 listings.

I am stupid for listing new items on Etsy.

I should close up.

Back to work.

Friday, September 9, 2016

146 Etsy Search Views before 8:45 AM???

Yesterday, a Thursday, I finished with only 203 views from Etsy search.

And my views from Etsy search have been from about 190 to 240's.

Here at 8:43 AM I already have 146 views from Etsy search!@

This is another instance of my shop "trending"??
Like happened a couple years ago??

97 of the search views are for "cup".

When I did that search, I did see my pink Royal Sealy teacup (and copycats), but not one of my teacups has an abnormally high number of views.  Not even that pink Royal Sealy.

I am guessing my shop is trending again.... .

Off to work...

47th Annual Mexican War Streets House & Garden Tour

One of the most anticipated events among the residents of  the historic Mexican War Streets neighborhood in which I live and have my vintage Etsy shop is the house & garden tour.

This year it will be held on sunday Sept 11th.

http://www.mexicanwarstreets.org/events/

http://www.post-gazette.com/life/homes/2016/09/02/Brownstone-in-the-War-Streets-is-right-place-at-right-time/stories/201609040098

The streets are full of visitors to the neighborhood for those hours.  And for almost every year the weather has cooperated with a dry, sunny day.

I am looking forward to it this year.

Green Day: "Know Your Enemy" - [Official Video]

Sept 1 Etsy Search Views

Well, I lost hundreds of views from Etsy search in August compared to last year.  And that is continuing at least on the first day of sept.

Last year on Sept 1st I had 244 views from Etsy search.
Yesterday, only 171 views from Etsy search.

Not good.

That is where the buyers are.

I have choices to make.

Thursday, September 1, 2016

The Final Word on August

So I finished August without a sale yesterday.

That made 25 of 31 days with revenue of $0-89.
And 12 of 31 days without a sale.

Add to that the more than 800 FEWER views from Etsy search compared to last year.
And 800 FEWER direct Google views, which I believe Etsy has had a hand in my losing.

And all of that is after more than 5 1/2 YEARS on the site AND nearly 1,500 listings.

AND the COPYCATS I have found.  Which are bugging me.

And it was a frustrating month.
There were a few highs.  One big high.
Then a bunch of days that bugged me.

I should close. I want to. It's stupid to stay open.  It is definitely stupid to add more listings.

VaxXed Stories: The Prosecutor

What a Month: My Last One on Etsy?

So with the past few days being days of no sales and/or low revenue I checked my stats again.

What a month it has been.

Only 28 orders in 30 days.
24 fewer than last August 1-30.

In 6 days I made 85% of my revenue.
In 1 of those days I made 46% of my revenue.
So in 24 days I made only 15% of revenue for the past 30 days..

In only those 6 of 30 days did I make more than $100 in revenue in a day.
Last year was 12 days of more than $100 in revenue.

So for more than 3 weeks of days I grossed just more than $200/week.
So I averaged a gross income of LESS than minimum wage.
I NET much LESS than minimum wage.

And 11 of 30 days with zero sales
Last year was only 5.

Not good.

So many wasted days.  So many days of such low or zero revenue.

I want to close up.

Saturday, August 20, 2016

The End is Near

In the previous 12 days I have 6 orders for only $269.
6 days with no orders.

In the previous 7 days 4 orders for $151.
3 days with no orders.

With more than 1,400 listings.

I was doing better than that after I first opened in January of 2011 with less than 100 listings.

**UPDATE:  I just checked and from Aug 8-19 2011 I had 8 orders for $241.
And from Aug 13-19 I had 5 orders for $177.
No sure how many listings.  But probably 200-400 for sure.

Disappointing.

The end is near.

Still targeting the first week of September as the time close.  By the 8th.

Wednesday, August 17, 2016

Estimated Closing: First Week of September

Today, 1 sale for $29.
Yesterday, 1 sale for $29
Day before that, 1 sale for $79.
No sale for 4 days before that
Before that, 1 sale for $59.
No sale for 3 days before that.
Before that 1 sale for $59.

Time to close.

After more than 5 1/2 years of every day effort, it's stupid to stay open..

I should close right now.

Get caught up on orders.

Then pay off fees, internet and gym membership the beginning of Sept.

Then CLOSE.

891 Total Views after 10AM

Well, I have had a person or people how have really been browsing my shop since midnight.

I have been having about 400 total views or so by noon.  And with some days in the 500-600's.

Now here at 10:15 AM I have 891 total views.

I've had 3 high view hours with 140 list views, 170 list views and 130 list views.

But not one sale.  So all the views have not turned into a sale at this point.  No way to know if they do.

Oh well.

Saturday, August 13, 2016

6 Days

Here at 12 Noon it is now 6 days with only 2 sales.

Not good.

Work on my shop less.

Stop adding new and relisting.

Oh well.

Evening Spider

I have a walkway between my house and the next door neighbor's house.  There is almost always a breeze blowing from the back to the front.  I have a bench next to my porch that I sit on during some summer nights.  To feel the breeze and have some unsweetened tea or some fruit.  Or just sit and enjoy the peacefulness of the night.

A couple of evenings ago I had just sat down on the bench when I looked to my right and there was a spider hanging in mid-air.  The web ran from the handle of my rake to the wall of my house.

I wanted to take some pics but I didn't think the battery for my camera was charged.  So I didn't take any.  And thought I missed a great image.

I just went out there again and sat down on this warm, humid evening.  Looked to my right and there it was again!

I came in and took the chance that there was still some life in a battery I had used.  There was!

I loaded up and my camera and went outside and took some pics:

I love spiders.  Maybe love is too strong of a word.  But I am very fascinated by them  Or I admire them greatly.  I am in awe of them, I'd say.

It was very cool to see.

Every time I see a spider, and anything in nature, I think of God.  How else could something so intelligent and greatly engineered have come into being?

Another 4 Days

Since my sale on Sunday morning 8/7 at 11:51 AM I have made 2 sales.

That is 4 days with 2 sales for $118.
Not good.

Tuesday, August 9, 2016

ANOTHER 1 1/2 Days

Well, after a great day of revenue on Sunday, it is now another day and a half without a sale.

My last sale was 10:21 AM yesterday morning   It is now 10:33 PM.

And the sale before that one was at 11:46 AM on sunday.

So at 12 noon it will be 3 days with 1 sale for $69.

I should close.

That one great day does not make up for most days.

oh well.

I have decisions to make.

The Creature From Jekyll Island (by G. Edward Griffin)

Hight Total Views Yesterday; High Search Views This Morning

So this weekend I had high total views in my vintage Etsy shop.

Saturday was my higher search view day of the weekend with 237 views from Etsy.  This summer saturdays have become my higher search view day.  Sunday was the higher day for years.

I also had more than 1,400 total views on saturday.  Because of Etsy adding pages that has increased my total views from when they first changed the new layout in April.

Then yesterday, sunday, I had a surprising drop in search views down to only 194.  It being a sunday I thought I'd be over 200 again.  But I wasn't.

BUT....I had 1,616 TOTAL views.

So people are browsing my shop.

Even this summer with the big drop in search views I was also having a big drop in total views.  I had some days with search views in the 150's-180's and total views only in the 800's.

And in the beginning of the year before the change in the shop layout I was getting search views in the 300's and some days in the 400's, and I'd have total views from 1,700 to 2,000 or so. But yesterday, with so many fewer search views I still had a good number of total views.  A Good Sign!

And then here this morning I woke up to about 80 search views at about 8am.  When I've been having only in the 70's at 12 noon lately.

And now here at 10:01 AM I have 96 views from Etsy search!

It is a monday and search views will be HIGHER than yesterday, sunday.  A big change for this summer.  I expected search views to be much lower today than yesterday.  As has happened all summer from sunday to monday.

Another good sign!

It was even a good weekend for direct Google views.  Both days were in the 60's.  Even though this summer I've had week days of direct Google views in the 20's. And the weekends have been higher.  As expected.  It was still encouraging to see.

Oh well.

Back to work.

Thursday, August 4, 2016

Another 1 1/2 Days

So the calendar says I made a sale yesterday.  But it was made right before 11 AM.

So here at 11 PM it is now 1 1/2 days without a sale.

I have choices to make......

Water Fuel-Cell Inventor Murdered by Government

Liberty Fading

I was on Twitter this morning when I saw a tweet titled "Liberty Fading".  I saw it was posted on the CanadaFreePress site

After Obama was elected as it started coming out more and more what he was really like, there was a column on that site about how he was not vetted and didn't even have ID.

So when I saw the tweet this morning I wanted to check it out.

I think it is a very good column.  The idea of government control over the people growing, and freedom diminishing "for our own good" are very well expressed, I feel:

http://canadafreepress.com/article/liberty-fading#.V54LfXAQGfY.twitter

Only God can save us.2 Chron 7:14.

I Thought Yesterday's Views were Good Until.....

So, yesterday was a saturday.  And with search views being below 200 for most of the days for the past 3-4  I was glad to see that I finished with 266 views from Etsy search.

Saturday has been my highest view day.  So it is not really anything that great or out of the ordinary.

BUT then I checked stats for the same day last year, July 30th, and Wow.

Last year on July 30th I had 486 views from Etsy search!  Holy heck.

Yesterday I finished with  more than 1,200 total views.

Last year I had 2,172 total views!  Wow.
Although, with the changes Etsy made to our shop layouts total views are not an accurate indication of how active our shops are.

2 sales yesterday.  For less than $100 revenue.  Not good.
1 sale the day before for less than $40 revenue.  Not good.

Disappointing numbers still.

I have choices to make.

Tic-Toc

The clock to the end of ShoponSherman is ticking.

Today makes 1 sale for $8 in 2 days.

I still have a chair to take to Greyhound tomorrow, and other orders to pack and ship.

I will be get caught up and close up in the next day or two.

Time for bed.

Saturday, July 23, 2016

11/17

So no sales  yesterday.

That makes 11 of the past 17 days without a sale.

Get caught up on my orders.

Then close up.

Maybe not until monday.

Friday, July 22, 2016

It is almost 10:30 AM

I am about to head into my garden job.  A little later than I wanted to.  I was hoping to avoid the heat and the sun and also get off early.

So at 11 AM it will be another 1 1/2 days without a sale.  Disappointing.

I have choices to make.

Only 166 Search Views Yesterday!

Wow.  It is very disappointing that search views have dropped so significantly this month.

Yesterday, July 21st, 2016 I had only 166 views from Etsy search.

Last year I had 249 views from Etsy search.

For the first 21 days of the month I have 778 fewer search views than last year.
(And 283 fewer direct Google views.  Which I believe is Etsy's fault)

Just more evidence why I should close.

No sales yesterday.
And search views are where the buyers are.
Nearly 1,500 listings and no sales.  Terrible.

And 10 of 21 days this month without a sale.
And 6 of the 11 days with a sale were for revenue of $89 or less.

So for 16 of the 21 days of this month I made $0-89.
Minus expenses. for 16 of the 21 days this month I made no money.

I have choices to make.

It is Another 2 Days without a Sale

My last sale was 12:50 pm on Monday.

I should close up.

I have choices to make.

110 Etsy Search views at 1 PM?

So my search views have come back somewhat over the past few days.

And even today I now have 110 views from Etsy search at only 1pm.

Did Etsy do something to cause the BIG drop I had??
Is this temporary?

It is good to see though.

Back to work.

One of Pittsburgh's oldest homesteads sits abandoned in Beltzhoover

One of Pittsburgh's oldest homesteads sits abandoned in Beltzhoover

The End has Come: I will be Closing My Vintage Etsy shop ShoponSherman

Here at 8:43 pm it is now another 3 days without a sale.

For many reasons it is time to close.

After I get caught up on my current orders, probably in the next 2 days, I will be closing.

After 5 1/2 years and more than 4,600 total items sold.

Time to get out the work boots, and go back to work.

Oh well.

A Dream of Driving in the Wrong Direction

I took a nap this afternoon and at the end of it as I was dreaming I was in a car going in the wrong direction.

We are in the left lane of a highway driving very slowly.  As I see traffic coming toward us, with a car in our lane, and a police car behind the car in our lane coming toward us, I say, "Wrong direction, Right?".

The person driving says, "Yeah.  As long as we're less than 7 (MPH).".

As we get closer to the cars we are in the middle lane and with a car also driving in the wrong direction as us a passenger in the back seat of my car says about bhot of our cars, "We're both going 8 (MPH)

The police officer stops and the officer makes the hand signal for us to stop, and I hear loud police sirens to the right of us.

Then I woke up.

I don't think it meant anything.  But it was clear.

Oh well.

47 Search views at 12 Noon

Wow.  So low.

I wonder what Etsy has done, what "improvements" they have made, to further hurt my search views.

I expected a drop in the summer, but this is the lowest search views I've had in 5 years.

Back to work.

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

Only 174 Search Views Yesterday

Last year on July 5th I had 246 search views.

I had more than 200 search views on Monday, July 4th, but nearly every day for the past week or more I've been below 200 Etsy search views.  Disappointing.

Today I am going to finish with less than 170. And less than 900 total views.

And this will be my 2nd consecutive day without a sale.

Oh well.

I have decisions to make about my vintage shop, and other things.

Pittsburgh Bicentennnial Celebration 1816-2016

The city of Pittsburgh has been my home all of my life.  I was born in 1967, and, of course, some of my favorite memories were of watching the Steelers of the 1970's.  Especially Terry Bradshaw, who I imitated every time I played football.

Although Pittsburgh was incorporated as a township in 1771, and then as a borough in 1794, it was in 1816 that Pittsburgh became a city:

http://www.pgh200.com/

And on Friday, July 8th Pittsburgh will have the birthday bash:

http://www.visitpittsburgh.com/events-festivals/pgh200/

Followed by a parade on Saturday, July 9th.

In my vintage Etsy shop I have listed an interesting piece of Pittsburgh Bicentennnial history.  It is a drinking glass from when Pittsburgh first celebrated its bicentennial in 1959:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/152295802/rare-vintage-1959-pittsburgh?ga_search_query=drinking+glass&ref=shop_items_search_1

I found it a local Goodwill:

I actually have not researched why Pittsburgh celebrated its bicentennial because of a 1758 date.  Rather than incorporating year of 1771.  It must be from when the city was founded.

Off to Google.....
